DG ISPR: Will not allow its soil to be used against any other country

Pakistan on US-Iran: Will not allow its soil to be used against any other country

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Sunday said that Pakistan will only play the role of a peacemaker and not take sides in the ongoing conflict between the United States and neighbouring Iran.

"In this scenario, prime minister Imran Khan and the army chief have adopted a very clear stance that Pakistan will not allow its soil to be used against anyone and play its strong role for regional peace," army spokesman General Asif Ghafoor, told local broadcaster ARY News.

“Islamabad and Washington were in talks for the last four or five months over the issue and linking it as Pakistan aligning with US is Indian propaganda,” he said.

China & Iran relations

The two civilizations have had a history of cultural, political, and economic exchanges along the Silk Road since at least 200 BC, and possibly earlier. To this day, China and Iran have developed a friendly economic and strategic partnership.

As of 2019, Iran has signed onto Xi Jinping's signature One Belt One Road plan, and Iran is considered to be a key part of China's geopolitical ambitions in central Asia and the Middle East, sometimes described in terms of a new Great Game.
